How Authentic Foods Got Started

In 1993, Steven Rice, a biochemist and chef, started Authentic Foods with the hopes of helping Celiacs and others who couldn’t eat gluten, enjoy the foods that normally contain gluten.  With his expertise, he was able to develop special superfine gluten free flours that could be replaced with wheat flour tomake gluten free baked goods that taste as if they contained gluten.

 Since then, Authentic Foods has become a gluten free empire with over 30 high quality gluten freebaking mixes and flours in its product line.The Authentic Foods gluten free baking mixes and flours are sold in thousands of stores around the country, including major grocery store chains such as Whole Foods, Wegman’s, Henry’s, Vitamin Cottage, Chamberlin’s Market, Akin’s Natural Foods and Hy-vee. 

Authentic Foods has also been commended by numerous Celiac and gluten free societies, cooking publications and some well renowned glutenfree chefs and cookbook authors including, Annalise Roberts, Karen Robertson,Cybele Pascal, Rebecca Reilly, and Bette Hagman. 

Authentic Foods has already revolutionized how thousands of people who are gluten intolerant approach food and their way of life. It is still only the beginning.  We look forward to helping thousands more in the coming years.
